Last updated 10 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information Bow River Digital ("we", "us") collects through bowriverdigital.ca, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to this website only. Work we carry out for a client is governed by the agreement we sign with that client.
1. Who we are
Bow River Digital is a web design and development studio based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. For the purposes of Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), we are the organization responsible for the personal information described here.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us. When you submit our contact form we collect the name, email address, service interest, and project description you enter, plus any other details you choose to include. We collect this only when you actively send it to us.
Information collected automatically. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used. It records pages viewed, time on page, referring site, approximate location derived from your IP address, and device and browser characteristics. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, also keeps standard server logs that include IP addresses for security and abuse prevention.
Cookies. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (named
_ga and _ga_*) to
distinguish returning visitors. We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies of our own, and we
do not run behavioural advertising on this site.
3. How we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote or proposal.
- To understand which pages and services visitors are interested in, so we can improve the site.
- To keep the site secure and available, and to detect abuse or spam submissions.
- To meet our legal and accounting obligations.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not use contact form submissions for marketing email unless you separately ask us to.
4. Consent
By submitting the contact form you consent to us using your information to respond to your enquiry. You may withdraw that consent at any time by contacting us; withdrawing it means we may no longer be able to continue the conversation. Any commercial electronic message we send you will identify us and include a way to unsubscribe, as required by Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
5. Service providers
We rely on a small number of third parties to run the site and handle enquiries. Some of them process data outside Canada, including in the United States, which means your information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions.
| Provider | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Web3Forms | Delivers contact form submissions to our inbox | Everything you enter in the form |
| Google Analytics | Site usage measurement | Pseudonymous usage and device data |
| Google Fonts | Serves the typefaces used on the site | Your IP address, as with any web request |
| Cloudflare | Hosting, delivery, and DDoS protection | Request and server log data |
We may also disclose personal information where we are required to by law, or to establish or defend a legal claim.
6. How long we keep it
Contact form enquiries are kept for as long as needed to deal with your request and for a reasonable period afterwards for our business records — normally up to 24 months. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' retention settings. Server logs are rotated on a short cycle by our hosting provider.
7. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you and how it has been used;
- correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- delete information we no longer have a reason to keep; and
- withdraw your consent to our use of it.
Write to info@bowriverdigital.ca and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta, or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
8. Security
The site is served over HTTPS and we take reasonable technical and organizational steps to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send confidential documents or sensitive personal information through the contact form.
9. Children
This site is intended for businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and revise the date at the top. Material changes will be described on this page.
